The Kings River's path from the Sierra Nevada and Pine Flat Reservoir is across California's central San Joaquin Valley, through the heart of the world's greatest agricultural region, as viewed on Maps and Key Locations.
The Kings River's service area of one million acres is a land served by 28 dedicated agencies that deliver water from the Kings River and other sources. These Member Units bring water to the thirsty land, creating an agricultural garden in parts of Kings, Tulare and Fresno counties that is the envy of the world.
Water diverted from the Kings River is governed by a Schedule of water rights and entitlements agreed to long ago by all Kings River member units and licensed by the State of California. It is a complex system but one that has worked well, benefiting this special land in ways that help feed the nation and the world.
